Here I propose five-keyed flutes of various types.

Some are the evolution of the Baroque flute, to which the small keys of F natural (sometime doubled by the long F (G sharp, B flat, and C were added; these are instruments from the first half of the 19th century.

Then there are flutes, also five-keyed, which were nevertheless the instrument with which musicians (amateurs and professionals) approached the flute in the second half of the 19th century and until the early 20th century. We move from the economical, mass-produced instrument to the high-end instrument in which the maker sought quality of workmanship and beauty of sound.

The instruments I propose are almost exclusively French, made by a multitude of artisans who deserve to be better known and appreciated.
