Not much is known about A. Morhange except that he was active in Paris, according to Langwill, between 1890 and 1899, selling all kinds of musical instruments (a piano and a violin are known, in addition to a flute), which suggests he was a dealer rather than a flute maker. However, the flute in question is certainly a beautiful precision-crafted instrument, built perhaps by one of the established Parisian flute makers and then sold by Morhange. However, the small holes, the lack of the long F, and the perfectly round blow hole suggest an instrument no later than the second half of the 19th century. Strangely enough, the A is at 415 if my tuner hasn't gone haywire. The sounding length is 540 mm and the weight is 334 g.
