This is a real Tulou "perfectionnée" flute now missing two pillars and a lever.
If Boehm presented his "definitive" flute in 1847 and Tulou presented his "perfectionnée" model in 1851, it is reasonable to assume that this flute by Pierre Piatet of Lyon was made in the early second half of the nineteenth century. There is little information about Pierre Piatet, much less on his possible relationship with Tulou, which one might assume existed, if only because of the ferocity with which French makers defended their products with the rotten "breveté," even when those products were identical to those of other makers. I would be grateful to anyone who can provide me with information on Pierre Piatet's production. The mark "Piatet Lyon" (star above and under) is on each section of the flute but only in the foot joint is clearly visible. Weight 423 g. sounding lenght 590, overall 575. Fantastic flute.
The flute is missing two pillars and has a small repaired crack in the head joint.
