Cabart, Paris

Cabart is a well known maker best known for his metal flutes, but he also made wooden flutes like the one I'm presenting here. This flute's distinctive feature is its closed keyboard, not the open one typical of French flutemaking tradition. Since I've occasionally seen similar flutes for sale in England, it's safe to assume that French makers exported closed-key instruments to England to meet foreign customers preferences. A 440, weight 492 g, sounding length 600 mm, marked Cabart a Paris on each section.
