Jérôme Thibouville (1833-1902) started working in La Couture-Boussey and already in 1857 entered into partnership with Husson and Buthod, which he left in 1861 when he married Marguerite Hyacinthe Lamy of the Lamy family of Mirecourt, associating her name with his and founding the Thibouville Lamy (JTL) company which would have a long life. The flute I propose is a typical ringed instrument with a conical bore and Boehm action, a solution that would have considerable success thanks to those who wanted to combine the Boehm action with the delicacy of the conical wooden flute, a feature much appreciated also by contemporary flautists who found it suitable for nineteenth-century music. The serial number 91 allows us to date the instrument before 1870.The flute has been completely restored and is ready to play, the A is at 435 which was the standard of the time.
