The Germans' innovative spirit never sleeps; it almost seems as  they have something to prove to the world. But isn't that spirit what created the Boehm flute? Without him, who made  rid  of  past experiences , a "tabula rasa" , the old-fashioned flute would have continued to be used. Uebel's 116 flute is a masterpiece: the idea is bold, the design is formidable, the mechanical quality is German, and the sound is powerful. It would have been interesting to interview Uebel about the reasons that led to the creation of this flute. For now, we can only speculate. If the idea was to create a lightweight flute, we're not there; the flute weighs 566 g and doesn't have a stand like the one used on German wooden flutes. The sound is still to be explored, without prejudice and without putting it in competition with a Muramatsu. The example I propose is a marvel; it has not a single scratch, which is difficult to find because aluminum scratches easily. That's why I charge more than my competitors. The flute plays well, but a little overhaul would do it good. So why play it? It's so beautiful just to look at! Obviously, a Uebel 116 shouldn't be missing from any collection.
