Josef Posch (1866-1947) was an appreciated flute maker born in Czech Republic and established in in München in the first years of the XIX century. He was a very skilled crafstman that produced beautiful flutes, like this one that I present today (another one eight keys in listed in this site). This ring flute is unusual among German flute players, who usually favoured either the Boehm flute or the variously evolved Old System flute (such as the Schwedler), while in France the ring flute was extremely common. This flute is presented in its original, very well-preserved case, which retains the maintenance screwdriver and the T-shaped left-hand rest. Unlike other Poschl instruments, this flute has a closed G-sharp and it is descending to B. It present a well repaired hairline crack in the head joint that doesn't affect the sound at all. The flute is tuned at 435.
