Cabart was one of the most important woodwind makers in France. He mainly made flutes in metal, nickel silver, or silver, but occasionally made wooden Boehm-style flutes. The company was founded by Jean-Baptiste Thibouville in La Couture Boussey, where he had his workshop. When he married Rose Leonie Cabart in 1867, the brand name became Thibouville Cabart (which was later used for medium-quality instruments), while Cabart was the brand name for more prestigious instruments.
