Ernesto Koehler, a well known Italian flautist, regarding the Zimmermann flute wrote : "in the workshops of Jul. Heinr. Zimmermann, flutes are manufactured to make possible the high g'''-a''' trill, which trill cannot be done on other flutes. These flutes bear the name "Modell Zimmermann". Since they combine very easy speech and the above-mentioned advantage with a large, full tone and pure intonation, I do not hesitate to recommend this model, when the means permit it." In other words, this flute testifies to the attachment of many artists (especially German ones) to the wooden conical flute, which for a long time competed with the Boehm flute in the flute player's choice. Koehler, for example, always played flutes like this one.   I present to you this important Zimmermann flute in good condition. The action, being complex and delicate, is a plus. The middle joint wood is free of cracks. The head joint has an hairline crack that does not alter the sound because the head joint is inside covered with a brass tube. The same goes for the tuning slide, a small "aesthetic" crack that does not affect the sound. Marked "Jul. Heinr  Zimmermann Leipzig"  in the middle joint. The flute needs restoration.  The case is sound but worn. The flute weighs 598 g, A 435. Ask for more info and pictures.
